AMASS - Architecture-driven, Multi-concern and Seamless Assurance and Certification of Cyber-Physical Systems


Description

The rise of complex Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) has led to many initiatives to promote reuse and automation of laborintensive activities. Two large-scale projects are OPENCOSS and SafeCer, which dealt with assurance and certification of software-intensive critical systems using incremental and model-based approaches.
AMASS will create and consolidate a de-facto European-wide assurance and certification open tool platform, ecosystem and self-sustainable community spanning the largest CPS vertical markets. We will start by combining and evolving the OPENCOSS and SafeCer technological solutions towards end-user validated tools, and will enhance and perform further research into new areas not covered by those projects. The ultimate aim is to lower certification costs in face of rapidly changing product features and market needs. This will be achieved by establishing a novel holistic and reuse-oriented approach for architecture-driven assurance (fully compatible with standards e.g. AUTOSAR and IMA), multi-concern assurance (compliance demonstration, impact analyses, and compositional assurance of security and safety aspects), and for seamless interoperability between assurance/certification and engineering activities along with third-party activities.

Our Role
First of all, we need to have in mind the the AMASS tangible results shall be: • Reference Assurance and Certification Conceptual Framework, which will extend the OPENCOSS and SafeCer conceptual certification frameworks for architecture-driven and multi-concern assurance, as well as for further cross-domain reuse capabilities and for the design of the seamless interoperability mechanisms (including standard tool APIs using OSLC). • Open Tool Ecosystem and Self-sustained Community, which will correspond to a tool platform community (including board, rules, policies, and quality models) and to the tool releases managed by such a community. Since OPENCOSS is already part of Polarsys/Eclipse community (www.polarsys.org), this is a strong candidate to host AMASS. As leader and project coordinatior of the previous project and platform OPENCOSS, TECNALIA is a key partner for the As project coordinator, Tecnalia will bring its broad experience in H2020 and FP7 projects coordination to achieve the goals of the AMASS project. So, Tecnalia will be the leader of “WP9. Project Management”. Moreover, Tecnalia will also be the leader and a main contributor to “WP2. Reference Architecture and Integration”. Tecnalia will participate in all the technical workpackages of the project (WP3, WP4, WP5 and WP6) to get the final result (Reference Assurance and Certification Conceptual Framework and Open Tool Ecosystem and Self-sustained Community). Lastly, Tecnalia will be involved in WP7 where networking and community building are key activities for the project. Tecnalia will also participate in the dissemination and exploitation tasks (WP8), by publishing papers on the research results of the project and promoting them in the vast international client networks.
